We are honored to announce that Mona Elkebir, Vice President of Business Operations at Planet Innovation, has been nominated for the prestigious 2024 Innovator of the Year Award by the Orange County Business Journal, following a thorough selection process. The OCBJ’s Innovator of the Year Awards recognizes individuals and organizations that create game-changing products and services while demonstrating brilliance and leadership in innovation.
Mona Elkebir is a respected figure in the medical device sector who leads the commercialization of world-first, groundbreaking medtech products and has led innovative corporate growth strategies through her work at Planet Innovation and previously at BIT Group.
Mona’s impact on the medtech sector has been profound at both a product commercialization level and a corporate level.
At a product level, one example of Mona’s achievements includes the commercialization of a medtech device that supports ER facilities which diagnose life-threatening diseases. She subsequently enabled the deployment of this product into developing nations to save newborns at risk due to disease. At a corporate level, Mona played a pivotal role in the successful merger of her company BIT, with Planet Innovation.
In recognition of Planet Innovation’s achievements and Mona’s contribution to the business, the Mayor of Irvine, Farrah N. Khan, visited Planet Innovation on two occasions in 2023. On the second occasion the Mayor also invited along special guest the Honorable Dilawar Syed, Special Representative for Commercial and Business Affairs at the U.S. Department of State.
In 2024, to further recognize the outstanding innovations led by Mona, Australia’s Governor of Victoria, the Honorable Margaret Gardner AC, visited Planet Innovation in Irvine and congratulated her and the team for outstanding achievements and contribution to the local economy.
