Planet Innovation last week hosted a rare opportunity for the design community to go behind the scenes and delve into the world of designing innovative, personalized healthcare products. As part of Melbourne Design Week 2025, the sold-out event was held at PI’s Melbourne facility and was attended by over 100 guests.
Led by PI’s diverse team of experienced and emerging designers, visitors were immersed in the world of innovative medical product design before engaging in insightful panel discussions on designing the future of healthcare. Speaking to a capacity crowd, the panelists unpacked the role of design as they explored evolving responsibilities, processes and challenges designers face today.

The panels led into guided tours where visitors met and engaged with design teams, and explored key facilities used to design devices such as science labs, prototyping workstations and mechatronic workshops. The event successfully concluded with a buzzing networking session where guests mingled and spoke with PI’s founders and product development teams.
Melbourne Design Week is an initiative of the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria.
