Planet Innovation has established PI Digital as a standalone business unit in response to our clients’ growing focus on digital health and IoT.
PI Digital, which forms part of Planet Innovation’s 200-strong Services division, combines a collaborative engagement model with a strong commercial focus to develop customized digital solutions, including for regulated medical environments.
The 40-person digital team, which was previously part of the Design group, has delivered a range of on-premise Edge computing and cloud solutions for global leaders like Merck Group and Ramsay Health Care, along with disruptive players in the IoT market such as Zen Ecosystems and Waterwerx.
Eduardo Vom, GM of PI Digital and co-founder of Planet Innovation, said the decision to launch PI Digital reflected clients’ increasing need for digital solutions.
“Our clients are embracing digital transformation and recognize the immense value it can create for their customers when mission critical functionality is combined with a brilliant user experience,” Eduardo said.
“Our privacy-compliant digital solutions enable you to integrate multiple streams of data to gain real-time insights, improve workflow efficiency and aid in decision making.”
Qerim Shahini is stepping into the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at PI Digital. Qerim has been a driving force in digital at PI for the past three years, establishing the technical standards and processes that underpin all our developments.
“We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to digital, as no two solutions are the same. Instead, we’ve developed a proven customer engagement process and set of technical building blocks that enable us to consistently deploy high quality, robust solutions more efficiently than most other digital providers,” Qerim said.
PI Digital clients will also benefit from Planet Innovation’s decade-long track record of commercializing products that delight users, and launching successful businesses.
“From programmers to project managers, testers to UX/UI designers, our team is focused on delivering commercially successful products, not just playing with tech,” Qerim said.
“Our mantra is simple: deliver quality outcomes that have real impact. That’s what matters.”
PI Digital’s work
PI Digital has worked with a broad range of businesses, from start-ups to global leaders, in a variety of industries, including healthcare and energy.
In the regulated medical environment, PI partnered with pharmaceutical company Merck to develop QBOX® IVF, an on-premise solution with Edge capability that connects and streamlines data transfer between lab instruments and Electronic Medical Records to improve efficiency in fertility labs.
Also in the medical space, the digital team is collaborating with Ramsay Health Care and PI’s digital health venture Vitalic Medical to improve patient safety in general wards by detecting early signs of patient deterioration and falls, and prompting nurses to intervene.
In the industrial sector, PI is working with Waterwerx, a digital wastewater services company that uses a combination of sensors, cloud-based analytics and AI to manage wastewater quality.
Alistair Lockey, Managing Director of Waterwerx, said: “We began working with the digital team at PI after a difficult experience with a low-cost offshore provider. PI helped us take a step back and look at the big picture of where we want to be, and what activities are critical to get there. The process has been very collaborative, and remarkably fast and cost-effective. Thanks to PI, we’ve been able to focus development on what will bring the greatest value to our customers and our business.”
