Lumos Diagnostics is expanding its global footprint after agreeing an ongoing manufacturing deal for a customized lateral flow reader with a California-based partner.
Lumos worked with the life sciences company to customize the Leelu Reader’s optics to suit their assay chemistry and lateral flow test strips. The reader’s software was also modified to accommodate their algorithms and provide a tailored output of data to meet the needs of end users.
Lumos CEO Dr Sacha Dopheide said: “2018 is shaping up to be a big year for Lumos as we take on new partners, new contracts, and move to larger new premises in Carlsbad, California.
“The Leelu Reader is just the first in a pipeline of reader platforms being developed with global partners, including two international pharmaceutical companies.”
A subsidiary of Planet Innovation Group, Lumos develops and manufactures custom rapid point-of-care (POC) diagnostic solutions. In 2017, Lumos acquired assay development company Kestrel BioSciences, becoming the only integrated provider of custom POC assays and readers. In addition to reader and assay development, Lumos also has in-house expertise in cloud and data management, and manufacturing.
