Abbott Molecular’s VIP2000 was recognized for its innovative product design and engineering as a finalist in the Testing and Diagnostic Products category at the prestigious Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEAs), held in New York.
The VIP2000 is an upgrade to the VP2000, which processes slides using pre-programmed Vysis protocols for fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), enabling labs to perform de-paraffinization, pretreatment, histology/cytology staining and routine slide washing in a single system.
Molecular labs around the world look to deliver constant, reliable results that clinicians can use to help make critical care decisions. For labs that run FISH workflow optimization enables them to deliver in an easier and faster way. The VIP2000 instrument has the unique ability to tailor batch sizes to the specific needs of the laboratory, allowing a more efficient FISH workflow.
Daman Kowalski, President of Abbott Molecular, commented: “Abbott is very pleased to accept the MDEA honor for the upgrade to the VP2000, designed in conjunction with Planet Innovation. The VP2000 is a critical component of Vysis IntelliFISH Solution and provides labs with a customized solution for performing FISH, streamlining workflow and improving quality of results. The enhanced features and design of the system truly help labs achieve measurably better healthcare performance.”
