Medtech industry veteran Euan Pizzey and accomplished executive Lisa Hennessy have been appointed as non-executive directors to the Planet Innovation Board to help achieve our vision of becoming Australia’s leading incubator of high-growth technology companies.

Euan has a strong track record in Australia’s medtech industry and has played an instrumental role in the development of many successful businesses, including as Chief Financial Officer of Vision Systems from 1993 until its successful sale to Danaher in 2007.

Lisa is a highly accomplished executive and non-executive director, with impressive hands-on experience in commercializing innovative products, international business expansion, M&A and capital markets, both in Australia and the US.

Co-CEO and co-Founder Stuart Elliott said PI was extremely fortunate to have secured two high caliber non-executive directors who truly understand and support the vision of the PI founders.

“PI is delighted welcome Euan and Lisa to the Board. They bring expertise that is highly complementary to the existing team and a wealth of experience that is directly relevant to the PI vision of building a game-changing business,” Stuart said.

“Euan and Lisa, along with our existing non-executive director Teresa Engelhard, will make an invaluable contribution to the next stage of our business journey as we ramp up the incubation, operation and exit of a number of exciting fast growth technology businesses.”

Profile: Euan Pizzey

Euan brings extensive experience in capital raising for technology-based businesses, as well as expertise in structured finance, and the commercialization and funding of R&D programs for the biotechnology industry.

After 20 years as a Chartered Accountant, Euan became an executive director of engineering firm Invetech in 1990. Following Invetech’s reverse takeover of Vision Systems Ltd in 1993, he took on the roles of Finance Director, CFO and Company Secretary at Vision Systems until 2007. During this time, Euan financially structured six acquisitions, as well as the sale of three businesses, including the Invetech and Vision Biosystems sale to Danaher for $816 million.

He was a non-executive director of fertility company Genea from 2009 until 2018, during which time the company launched its successful technology business Genea Biomedx, working with PI to develop the award-winning Geri and Gavi instruments.

Euan, who was an early investor in Planet Innovation and has previously worked with our four founders at Vision Biosystems, said he was looking forward to helping PI to increase profitability and grow its capital base.

Euan said: “I’m excited to be joining one of Australia’s most innovative companies and assisting the acceleration of its growth with innovative capital restructuring and capital raisings.”

Euan holds a Diploma in Commerce from Swinburne University of Technology and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia & NZ, Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia, Associate of CPA Australia and a Chartered Tax Advisor.

Profile: Lisa Hennessy

American-born Lisa brings 30 years’ experience working at global companies and start-ups in multiple sectors including healthtech, fintech, consumer goods and agriculture.

Lisa began her career as a manufacturing engineer and project manager at GE Healthcare, before moving into executive roles in Operations, Strategy and Acquisitions at international organizations including GE Capital, Bain & Co, and Del Monte Foods.

Since migrating to Australia, Lisa has held non-executive directorships at ASX-listed and non-listed companies, including FirstStep Financial and Murray River Organics. She led Murray River Organics through its initial listing on the ASX, which raised $35 million.  Also, Lisa is a member of the Commercialisation Committee at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute.

Lisa holds an MBA from Harvard University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.

She is an active angel investor and is also President of the Harvard Club of Victoria.

Lisa said she wanted to join the Planet Innovation Board because of PI’s strong track record of commercializing innovation.
